OVERVIEW
This product is a Blu-ray disc that utilizes a unique recording layer suitable for long-term storage, and provides stable recording quality. It has undergone rigorous quality control procedures and has been verified to work on a Pioneer Blu-ray drive.
Moreover, in combination with DM for Archive-compatible drives, it allows the high-quality recording required for ISO/IEC 18630-compliant long-term storage, and is optimal for storing important data such as documents for which storage is legally mandated.
Example of storage of documents for which storage is legally mandated:
Accounting ledgers, transaction evidence, documents of settlement of accounts, documents related to tax withholding, minutes of general meetings of shareholders, documents related to taxation, documents related to human resources, etc.
*Projected lifetime of several hundred years based on tests performed according to the ISO/IEC 16963 standard.

Conforms to ISO/IEC 18630 standard(Quality discrimination method for optical disks and operating method of storage systems for long-term data preservation)
This standard specifies a quality discrimination method for optical discs and operating method of storage systems for long-term digital data preservation using optical discs and optical disc drives.
This standard enables users to build data storage systems that use recordable and/or read-only optical discs for long-term data preservation.
This product complies with the ISO/IEC 18630 standard when used with the dedicated “DM Archiver” writing application and a DM for Archive-compatible disc drive.

DM(Defect Management) for Archive compatible
DM (Defect Management) for Archive is a mechanism to raise the alternate processing function (DM) that is standard on Blu-ray discs to a level compliant with ISO/IEC 18630.
When recorded in combination with the following, long-term data storage is possible.
• BDR-WX01DMU DM for Archive-compatible drive
• DM for Archive-compatible disc (this disc)
• DM Archiver DM for Archive dedicated writing application (available online for download)
DM for Archive recording and recording quality confirmation are performed in a series of operations.
Recording to a previously allocated alternate area is performed when it is determined through recording quality confirmation that ISO/IEC 18630 quality standards are not met.
This alternate recording ensures ISO/IEC 18630-compliant recording.
Drives and discs compatible with DM for Archive will display the following logo mark.

Blu-ray discs offer low-cost long-term storage
Although hard disk drives (HDDs) or cloud services are commonly used to store data, HDDs are vulnerable to impact, magnetism, and vibration and thus are deemed to have a storage life of three to four years.
Accordingly, when using an HDD to backup, it is necessary to obtain an additional HDD, use mirroring to back it up, and then purchase a new HDD as a replacement every four years and migrate the data.
Although data backup and migration are unnecessary with a cloud service, ongoing costs are incurred. Moreover, service fees and volumes are subject to change.
Conversely, there is no need for migration or ongoing fees with a Blu-ray disc, with DM for Archive compatible BD-Rs in particular having an estimated life in excess of 100 years.
Accordingly, Blu-ray discs—and DM for Archive-compatible discs in particular—are recommended for long-term, low-cost data storage.Created by Pioneer (As of July 2023)Blu-ray Disc

Unique recording layer suitable for long-term storage
Utilizes a unique Metal Ablative Recording Layer (MABL). Recording marks are formed using the ablation method, which is more stable than existing phase-change materials, and is suitable for long-term storage.
Additionally, ablation-based recording is irreversible, offering a true write-once capability that makes data tampering theoretically impossible.

Rigorous quality control
These discs have passed strict quality control by having each disc pass defect and servo inspections using stricter inspection standards than for normal Blu-ray discs.
Additionally, acceleration tests are performed on all lots using inspection standards based on the results of lifetime estimate testing. Only those discs that pass are shipped, reducing the likelihood of data playback faults.

Cautions in Usage
Use slim case for storage. Storage in sleeve cases is not recommended.
1 GB = 1 billion bytes. Formatted capacity less.
Recording time depends on hardware and recording mode.
Handle with care to avoid leaving fingerprints, scratching, or allowing dust or water (oil) droplets to adhere to the recording or label surface.
If dust or dirt adheres, gently wipe it off with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using solvents such as thinners or antistatic agents.
Use a felt-tip pen to write on the label surface. Do not use any writing utensils with a hard tip.
Do not paste labels or adhesive tape on the disc.
Store the disc in its case and avoid locations exposed to direct sunlight, high temperatures, or humidity.
Also, avoid cases where the label surface comes into direct contact with the case.
The storage temperature is -5 to 50°C (23 to 122°F), and the storage humidity is 5 to 85%.
Do not break the disc as fragments may scatter and cause injury.
It is recommended to back up important data.
